ALBERT SCHWEITZER CHILDREN VILLAGE BERLIN

Moving Child supports the family center "Die Brücke", Berlin the implementation of educational programs and language support since 2023

The Albert Schweitzer Children’s Village Berlin consists of a children’s village with 19 children’s village families, two day care centers, two family centers, educational centers, residential groups and a family house.

Moving Child is delighted to be able to support the family center “Die Brücke” in the Friedrichsfelde-Ost district of Lichtenberg.

The family center offers space for meeting and exchanging ideas, for information and advice in the neighborhood. Parents, children and families take advantage of the wide range of open offers and courses – from baby massage courses and toddler groups to family breakfasts and nutrition groups. Here they can get to know like-minded people, get active, help shape and improve offers in the neighborhood together.

The integrative project “Building bridges – offers for people with and without a refugee background”, which was launched in 2015, is an integral part of the family centers. The aim is to initiate meeting spaces for families with and without refugee experience, locals and newcomers to get to know each other and promote integration and intercultural openness in the district. In addition, “Die Brücke” enables families with refugee experience to participate and have equal opportunities in social and political life through family education programs combined with learning the German language. A wonderful project in the social space with families and children from different cultures.

Moving Child finances a pedagogical specialist for the implementation of educational programs and an honorary employee for language support.
