Save the Children is now also supported by Moving Child in northern Syria. The war in Syria has been going on since 2011 and the 2023 earthquake exacerbated the already great need in the country. In the earthquake zone, Save the Children teams are working in the areas of health, child protection, education, nutrition, access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene. Food is distributed, shelters and play areas are set up and much more.
Since 2019, Moving Child has been supporting the Campus di Monaco and in particular the trauma therapy workshop, in which pupils who have fled their country and often have to deal with serious experiences and trauma are guided in small steps towards regaining self-confidence and experiencing self-efficacy. We have now extended this support to the elementary school founded in 2022.
Moving Child has already supported the Foundation Ambulantes Kinderhospiz Munich (AKM) in various areas in recent years. Now we are supporting the area of participation-oriented aftercare. Therapeutic experiences, excursions, mothers’ and fathers’ groups, sibling days, a summer holiday program and much more enable those affected to exchange ideas and come together. The families can draw strength and energy for their challenging everyday lives from these positive moments.
